Running out of time in July, there's still several things that I'd like to get done that I just won't get done. However, I did get the code hooked up that reads object information out of the location description. So, now, when you leave one place, you'll sort of feel like you've gone to a different place.
Having a bunch of big towering blocks makes it feel a little like you're fighting inside Stonehenge.
I might be able to get to one or both of these:
- Bonus - Each location might have a bonus clock that ticks down - the faster you complete the level, the more bonus you earn.
- Shadows - those tanks look awfully floaty, especially during the flyby cutscene. They're not really flying by, but shadows would help sell that these guys are actually on the ground.
Several things I won't get to:
- fixing the crash on Chrome - still don't know what this is. Something weird with WebGL, probably. Probably something weird that I'm doing with WebGL.
- fancier explosions - I'll have to save them for the next exploding game. The one with blimps. Exploding blimps, I guess.
- reticle - I've got ideas for fancy targeting scopes. Next game.
- glass break on player death - it's too bad, because that really belongs in this game.
And a lot more, besides. Still, it's not a bad chunk of work for a month. Especially starting from not knowing WebGL. I'm reasonably pleased.
